My name is Richard Fielding, and welcome to my humble corner of the internet! You could say tobacco has been in my veins since the day I was born. My family has been in the tobacco industry for generations, and I’ve been personally immersed in it for over 35 years. My extensive career spans across well-established multinational companies such as British American Tobacco and Philip Morris International.
My journey began at the University of North Carolina, where I earned my degree in Agricultural Science, specializing in tobacco cultivation. Since then, my career in the tobacco industry has taken me around the world – from the sunlit tobacco fields of Zimbabwe to bustling factory floors in Indonesia.
My work primarily revolves around creating sustainable and responsible tobacco farming methods. I’ve been deeply involved in pioneering practices that enhance the productivity of smallholder tobacco farmers while reducing the environmental impact. For this, I had the honor of receiving the International Tobacco Growers’ Association’s ‘Award for Sustainable Agriculture’ in 2018.
While my career is an important part of my life, it’s not all work and no play for me! I am currently living in the beautiful country of Australia. Off the clock, you’ll find me indulging in my passion for photography. The breathtaking landscapes and wildlife here offer a feast for the eyes of a nature enthusiast like me. I also love cricket and spend many a weekend cheering for my home team at the stadium.
